2. Quotes and Estimates

All repair quotations are estimates based on the symptoms described and the condition of the device before repair.

Occasionally, additional faults may only become apparent once the device has been opened and inspected.

If further work is required, we will contact you before proceeding.

You are under no obligation to continue with the repair after receiving a revised quotation.

3. Diagnostic Services

Most repairs include diagnosis at no additional cost.

If you ask us to diagnose a fault without carrying out the repair, we may charge a diagnostic fee depending on the device and fault.

Diagnostic fees cover the technician’s time and are payable even if you decide not to proceed with the repair.there are no charges if we can’t fix the phone.

4. Repair Times

Any repair times provided are estimates only.

While we aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, delays can occur because of:

  • supplier availability
  • manufacturer restrictions
  • complex faults
  • additional damage discovered during repair
  • courier delays
  • circumstances beyond our control

We are not liable for losses arising from repair delays.

5. Customer Responsibilities

Before handing your device to us you should:

  • Back up all important data.
  • Remove SIM cards and memory cards where practical.
  • Disable activation locks if requested.
  • Provide accurate contact details.
  • Inform us of any previous repairs or known faults.

Failure to disclose previous repairs or existing issues may affect the repair outcome.

6. Data Backup

Although we take great care with every repair, there is always a risk of data loss when electronic devices are repaired.

You are solely responsible for backing up your data before repair.

PhoneMax Cheltenham accepts no responsibility for:

  • lost photographs
  • contacts
  • documents
  • applications
  • messages
  • passwords
  • accounts
  • software
  • any other personal or business data.

7. Device Passcodes

To properly test your device after repair we may ask for your passcode or password.

If you choose not to provide this information:

  • we may be unable to fully test your device;
  • some faults may remain undetected; and
  • our warranty only applies to the functions that could reasonably be tested.

Your privacy is respected at all times. We only access your device where necessary to complete testing.

8. Genuine and Compatible Parts

Depending on availability and your chosen repair option, we may install:

  • Genuine manufacturer parts
  • Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts
  • Premium compatible replacement parts.
  • Third party parts as per customer requirements.

All replacement parts are selected to meet our quality standards.

Where compatible parts are fitted to certain Apple devices, Apple may display messages such as:

  • Important Display Message
  • Unknown Part
  • Important Battery Message

These are manufacturer software notifications and do not necessarily indicate a faulty repair.

9. Manufacturer Warranties

Using an independent repair provider may affect your manufacturer’s warranty.

If maintaining your manufacturer’s warranty is important, you should contact the original manufacturer before authorising repair.

10. Hidden Damage

Devices suffering from:

  • impact damage
  • bending
  • liquid damage
  • corrosion
  • previous repairs

  • poor-quality repairs

may contain hidden faults that cannot be identified until disassembly.

PhoneMax Cheltenham is not responsible for faults resulting from pre-existing damage or structural weakness that only becomes apparent during repair.

11. Liquid Damage

Liquid damage repairs are unpredictable.

Even where a repair is successful, corrosion may continue after repair and additional faults may develop.

Because of the nature of liquid damage:

  • successful repair cannot be guaranteed;
  • further failures may occur without warning;
  • warranty does not cover future corrosion or liquid damage.

Opening any electronic device may affect its original waterproof or water-resistant seals.

Following repair, PhoneMax Cheltenham cannot guarantee the original IP rating or water resistance of any device.

Certain biometric systems are linked to the original hardware by the manufacturer.

If these systems have already been damaged before repair or fail due to previous impact or liquid damage, we cannot guarantee successful restoration. We are only responsible for the part we replaced.

14. Software Repairs

Software repairs do not guarantee recovery of lost data.

Operating system updates released after repair may affect the behaviour of third-party replacement components and are outside our control.

Completed repairs should be collected as soon as possible.

If a repaired device remains uncollected:
