Repair Warranty Policy

PhoneMax Cheltenham Repair Warranty Policy

Last Updated: July 2026

At PhoneMax Cheltenham, we stand behind the quality of our repairs and the parts we install. This Warranty Policy explains what is covered, what is not covered, and how to make a warranty claim.

This policy applies to all repairs carried out by PhoneMax Cheltenham, a trading name of Sky Tech Studio Limited.

1. Our Warranty

Unless stated otherwise at the time of repair, all repairs carried out by PhoneMax Cheltenham include a 12-month warranty from the date your repair is completed.

Our warranty covers:

  • Replacement parts supplied and installed by PhoneMax Cheltenham.
  • Faults caused by defective replacement parts.
  • Faults resulting from our workmanship during the original repair.

If a fault covered by this warranty occurs, we will inspect the device and, where appropriate, repair or replace the affected part free of charge.

2. What Our Warranty Covers

Our warranty applies only to the specific repair originally carried out.

Examples include:

  • Screen replacement developing display faults not caused by damage.
  • Battery replacement that fails due to a manufacturing defect.
  • Charging port replacement that develops a fault because of a defective replacement component.
  • Camera replacement that stops functioning because of component failure.
  • Speaker, microphone or earpiece replacement developing faults due to defective parts.

The warranty does not automatically cover other components of the device.

3. What Is Not Covered

Our warranty does not cover any damage caused after your repair, including but not limited to:

  • Accidental damage.
  • Cracked or broken screens.
  • Drops or impact damage.
  • Bent or twisted devices.
  • Liquid or water damage.
  • Fire damage.
  • Heat damage.
  • Electrical surge damage.
  • Charging with unsuitable chargers or accessories.
  • Misuse or neglect.
  • Unauthorised modifications.
  • Damage caused during attempts to repair the device by another repair provider.
  • Customer-installed parts.
  • Software problems unrelated to our repair.
  • Malware or viruses.
  • Cosmetic wear and tear.
  • Battery performance reduction through normal usage.
  • Damage caused by excessive pressure.

4. Water and Liquid Damage

Any evidence of liquid or moisture entering the device after repair immediately voids this warranty.

Where a device has previously suffered liquid damage, we cannot guarantee the long-term reliability of any repair due to ongoing internal corrosion.

Repairs carried out on liquid-damaged devices are warranted only for the specific replacement part installed and do not cover future failures caused by corrosion or previous liquid damage.

5. Physical Damage

Our warranty becomes void if the repaired device shows signs of:

  • cracked glass
  • impact marks
  • bent housing
  • frame distortion
  • pressure damage
  • internal breakage
  • liquid ingress
  • burn damage

These types of damage can affect internal components independently of the original repair.

6. Previous or Third-Party Repairs

We cannot provide warranty cover where:

  • another repair business has opened the device after our repair;
  • replacement parts fitted by us have been removed;
  • internal components have been altered;
  • warranty labels or security seals have been tampered with (where applied).

Any third-party repair or modification carried out after our repair will void this warranty.

7. Genuine and Compatible Parts

We offer both Genuine Manufacturer Parts (where available) and Premium Compatible Parts.

Compatible parts are carefully selected to provide reliable performance and value.

Certain manufacturers, including Apple, may display software notifications such as:

  • “Unknown Part”
  • “Important Display Message”
  • “Important Battery Message”

These messages are generated by the manufacturer’s software and do not necessarily indicate a faulty repair or defective part.

Such notifications are not covered under this warranty.

8. Water Resistance

Many modern devices are manufactured with water-resistant seals.

Opening a device for repair may affect its original water resistance.

Although we replace seals where appropriate, PhoneMax Cheltenham cannot guarantee the original waterproof or water-resistant rating after any repair.

Liquid damage occurring after repair is not covered by warranty.

9. Face ID, Touch ID and Biometrics

Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint readers and similar biometric systems are extremely sensitive manufacturer-controlled security features.

Our warranty does not cover:

  • pre-existing biometric faults;
  • manufacturer software restrictions;
  • failures caused by impact damage;
  • liquid damage;
  • previous repairs.

Where these systems are working correctly following our repair, subsequent failures caused by external damage are not covered.

10. Software

Software updates released by Apple, Google, Samsung or other manufacturers are outside our control.

We cannot guarantee future software updates will remain fully compatible with third-party replacement components.

Software issues, operating system bugs or manufacturer updates are not covered by this warranty.

11. Customer Data

Customers remain responsible for backing up all data before repair.

PhoneMax Cheltenham cannot accept responsibility for:

  • lost photographs
  • contacts
  • emails
  • documents
  • messages
  • applications
  • passwords
  • accounts
  • business information
  • any other stored data

Our warranty does not include data recovery.

12. Device Testing

Where a customer chooses not to provide the device passcode, we may be unable to fully test all functions before returning the device.

Our warranty applies only to functions that could reasonably be tested during repair.

13. Battery Warranty

Replacement batteries are covered against manufacturing defects for 12 months.

Battery warranty does not cover:

  • normal reduction in battery capacity through use;
  • heavy usage;
  • overheating caused by unsuitable chargers;
  • liquid damage;
  • accidental damage;
  • swelling caused by misuse;
  • software battery reporting inaccuracies.

Battery lifespan naturally decreases over time and is considered normal wear.

14. Screen Warranty

Our screen warranty covers manufacturing defects only.

It does not cover:

  • cracked glass;
  • scratched glass;
  • pressure damage;
  • OLED burn-in caused by misuse;
  • impact damage;
  • liquid damage;
  • customer-caused damage.

15. Accessories

Accessories supplied by PhoneMax Cheltenham include a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects unless otherwise stated.

The warranty excludes:

  • accidental damage;
  • misuse;
  • normal wear and tear;
  • cosmetic deterioration.

16. Warranty Claims

To make a warranty claim you must provide:

  • proof of purchase or repair receipt;
  • the original repaired device;
  • sufficient time for inspection.

We reserve the right to inspect any device before confirming warranty eligibility.

17. Inspection

Where a warranty claim is made, our technicians will inspect the device.

If inspection confirms:

  • accidental damage;
  • liquid damage;
  • unauthorised repair;
  • unrelated faults;
  • misuse;

the repair will not qualify under warranty.

We will provide a quotation before carrying out any chargeable work.

18. Warranty Remedies

If a valid warranty claim is accepted, PhoneMax Cheltenham may, at its discretion:

  • repair the fault;
  • replace the defective part;
  • replace the device with one of comparable specification (where appropriate);
  • refund the original repair charge where no suitable repair or replacement is possible.

These remedies are provided in addition to your statutory rights.

19. Transferability

Our repair warranty applies only to the original customer named on the repair record.

It cannot be transferred to another owner unless agreed in writing by PhoneMax Cheltenham.

20. Consumer Rights

Nothing in this Warranty Policy affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other applicable UK legislation.
